"Wet Foot, Dry Foot"

From NPR:

Cuban Americans in Miami are increasingly demanding the end of the "wet-foot, dry-foot" policy that allows the Coast Guard to send refugees back to Cuba if they don't set foot on U.S. soil. Cuban exile groups are starting a lobbying campaign that they hope will go directly to President Bush.

I am a Cuban American although I generally just refer to myself as an American.

It is time to have Cubans go through the same refugee process as every other person coming from countries ruled by repressive regimes.

The world is full of bad governments. There is no reason to give Cubans special preferences.
